Looking for a place to gain some muscle in Stafford, VA?

In this episode of Give, Work, Play, I’m going to talk about where you can go to get your workout on. We’ll explore Stafford’s local fitness centers so you can choose the best one for your health goals.

Getting Fit In Stafford

One of the most common questions I get asked about Stafford, Virginia is where the local fitness centers are. People want to know where they can work out and if there’s someplace they can stop before work. This, of course, includes many additional questions.

What time do they open? What classes do they have during the day? Do they have a kids club, or can kids work out there? Is there a gym that’s open really late at night?  Thankfully, we have plenty of gyms and fitness centers in Stafford, including both locally owned and larger chains. We even have a Curves, which has been around for a long time.

Regardless of which route you choose, you've got lots of options. If you want personal trainers, that might be an option for you, too. I'm going to go over a list of places where you can go and get your workout on—and let me tell you, the list is pretty impressive.

Onelife Fitness

One of the larger chain gyms in Stafford is called Onelife Fitness. There are several of them conveniently located between Stafford and north towards DC. If you don't have the opportunity to stop at the gym in Stafford, you may be able to catch a workout in one of the other locations.

Our local Onelife Fitness is located right on Route 610, also called Garrisonville Road. They’re currently adding an additional 7,000 square feet to the gym. This will include a four-lane 25-meter saltwater pool along with a whirlpool, which is pretty cool. It also has cutting-edge equipment and specialized training classes, from spin and yoga to Bodypump and kickboxing (which is one of my favorites).

If you're also looking to play basketball, you’ll find basketball hoops there, too. There’s pretty much something for everyone. The nice thing about this gym is it's open seven days a week. It also has a kids club, perfect for those of you who need to have someone watch the kids while you're working out. Don't worry, because Onelife Fitness has you covered.

Anytime Fitness & Orangetheory

Another chain that we have in Stafford—also located on Route 610—is called Anytime Fitness. The great thing about this one is you can get your workout in any time, as it's open 24/7. All you need is your little key fob to get right through the front door. At Anytime Fitness, you can get everything from coaching to the use of a variety of equipment.

We also have Orangetheory Fitness in Stafford, another gym that happens to be conveniently located right off of Route 610. Orangetheory is a total body group workout that combines science, coaching, and technology to guarantee maximum results from the inside out.

The cool thing about Orangetheory is you can drop in for a class or you can sign up for unlimited classes. This gives you options, especially if you just want to try the workout first to make sure it's the right fit for you.

The Jeff Rouse Swim & Sport Center

Next up is the Jeff Rouse Swim & Sport Center, located in Embrey Mills. It’s a state-of-the-art, 76,000-square-foot facility that houses a 50-meter competition pool, 25-yard recreational pool, and a warm water wellness pool. It also features group exercise, a fitness floor, a full-size basketball court, and a full-service cafe for all of its guests.

The Jeff Rouse Center offers a variety of classes, including cycling, group exercise classes, swimming lessons, and lifeguard certification—which my son just got. The Rec Center also offers leagues for adults in volleyball and basketball. Little ones can enjoy Little Kickers, a soccer program for kids as young as 18 months up to nine years old.

They also have summer camps, clinics, classes, and a J-Club kids area for children as young as 10 weeks up to 12 years old. Visit their website so you can get a private tour and a three-day pass to experience everything the Jeff Rouse Swim & Sport Center has to offer.

Pure Barre Stafford & CrossFit

Near the Jeff Rouse Center is Pure Barre Stafford, located right near Publix. This gives you a total body workout that's both fun and challenging, with instructors that keep you from getting bored. Their music-driven group classes focus on a low-impact, high-intensity set of movements that strengthen and tone your body for 15 minutes or less.

We also have Ardent CrossFit in Stafford, available for anyone of all ages, abilities, and levels. CrossFit in six words is constantly varied functional movements at high intensity. What does that mean? You won't get bored at Ardent CrossFit. The workouts are always different each day, and they’ll challenge your mind, body, and abilities—encouraging you to try things you'd never thought possible.

Curves, Brickhouse Fitness, & Fitness:1440

If you don't have an hour to spend at the gym and you're a lady, guess what? We still have Curves, conveniently located right off of Route 1. It's convenient, efficient, and combines both strength training and cardio in 30 minutes. Remember, it's ladies-only.

Brickhouse Fitness is another fitness center right off of Route 610. It's fun, fast-paced, and energetic. This fitness studio combines both dance and aerobics. Their members not only burn calories, but they also shed stress. I might need to go visit that place.

Fitness:1440 is another one that's located in South Stafford, right off Route 17 in Fredericksburg. This gym includes personal training, group exercise, and cardio along with much more. Their mission is to help you meet your health and fitness goals.

Break a Sweat In Stafford

In addition to all of these great fitness centers, we also have several yoga studios here in Stafford. In fact, there's one right on 610 that has a beautiful mural right on the side of the building you should definitely check out. We also have running clubs, cycling clubs, and plenty of other gyms and fitness centers here in Stafford that I didn’t have time to mention.
