Loisann’s Hope House is the Fredericksburg region’s oldest and largest family homeless shelter.

Their organization supports four core programs to mitigate homelessness: Emergency Shelter, Rapid Rehousing, Homelessness Helpline, and FredPrevent – Prevention.

Last year, Loisann’s Hope House served 398 clients, including 230 children. Already this year they are on track to surpass these numbers, and as the need has grown, so has Loisann’s Hope House. They recently added another home to their campus, allowing them to house 19 families in need of emergency shelter.

Their story begins “on a bitterly cold night over three decades ago, when members of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg held a meeting at the church. Upon arrival, they found a homeless man sleeping in the entrance foyer, and he was invited to take part in the meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was decided to address the problem of homelessness in our community.”

Giving hope – that’s what Loisann’s Hope House does best. Stories of hope are what help sustain us during difficult times. Our community comes together, inspired, when we work together to give others a hand up — not just a hand out — to end homelessness, and a real chance for a brighter future.

“Every child deserves a safe place to call home, and your donation has an immediate and direct impact on our ability to help children and their families facing homelessness.”
