It’s that time of the year! Stafford and Fredericksburg Farmer's markets are a great way to support local agriculture and pick-up fresh, healthy produce directly from the source.

Unlike grocery stores, which often offer the same produce year-round, farmer's markets offer fruits and vegetables that are in season. This not only means that the produce is at its peak flavor, but it also encourages people to eat a wider variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the year.

The farmers and growers at these markets are typically small, family-owned businesses that rely on their local community for support. By buying their produce, you're helping to sustain these businesses and keeping money in the local economy.

FREDERICKSBURG FARMERS MARKET

 SPOTSYLVANIA FARMERS MARKET

One of the largest farmers markets in the region, Spotsylvania Farmers Market is a food and farms marketplace. We have two vibrant markets: a Saturday morning market located at the Commuter Lot at Route 3/Gordon Road and a Wednesday afternoon market in front of the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

With more than 40 vendors, Spotsylvania Farmers Market is proud to support the many farms, nurseries, bakeries, meat and seafood providers and specialty-food producers this region has to offer.

If you haven't yet visited the Stafford or Fredericksburg farmer's market, make it a point to do so. You may be surprised at what you find! As the video above shows, they are pet friendly.

There are also many farmers who offer CSA subscriptions, where you receive a weekly box of local harvest.

PRO TIP: Check the market's schedule and hours before you go, as they can vary depending on the season and weather conditions. Additionally, be sure to bring cash or a credit card, as not all vendors may accept electronic payments.
